My Yoga Path
“The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” . (B.K.S. Iyengar)
I have been on my yoga Journey for quite some time now, however it took me a long while to understand what yoga really means to me and what it does for me.
My first encounters with yoga, maybe 20 years or more ago, were during holidays and local offers, and I attended various courses from Power yoga to Bikram yoga to Vinyasana yoga to Yoga Nidra, to Astanga Yoga... I could never really find the connection and was sometimes overwhelmed or even disappointed and annoyed.
From time to time I went on various retreats with 5-day intensive yoga programmes. All well and good, I was enthusiastic, but after 3 weeks at the latest I was back to my old habits where yoga, meditation etc. were certainly not part of it.
Still, yoga always came back on my path and above all the need and desire for more depth and spirituality. But….“what is that? depth and spirituality “, and „ how does it work?“, and „how do I get there?“,and „am I physiacal fit enough?” and “what, if I cannot do headstand?” …. and so on, were my constant questions, doubts, worries and misinterpretations of yoga.
It wasn't until 2018, on a retreat in France with only 2 participants and a great yoga teacher, that I was able to let go of all my doubts about yoga and immerse myself completely into yoga practice and also got to know about meditation and Pranayama.
Then, when I started learning about Ayurveda in 2019 and grasped and understood the importance of daily routines, yoga became an integral part of my life.
I really wanted to learn, understand and live yoga. I wanted to know everything about the history and philosophy, meditation, asanas, mantras and mudras, about the union of body, soul and spirit.
Throughout the past couple of years I have visited various teacher training courses and had some inspiring teachers, though my thirst for more knowledge is not yet quenched and might never be. I have come to understand that everyone should find their own yoga path, and that the path is the aim yet the final destination may never be reached.
Yoga to me means opening up to everything that comes my way, embracing it, even if it doesn't always seem to be the best. Yoga shows me how to love myself and how to give love, to be open and thankful to everything wonderful that life brings, good or bad, to not be afraid of tomorrow because it shows me to first and foremost live in the now.
Furthermore, in combination with Ayurveda, Yoga keeps me fit and strong, physically and mentally, and I am infinitely grateful for everything that life and the universe give me every day.
Yoga & Ayurveda - This wonderful inseparable couple
Time and time again I get to experience how Ayurveda and Yoga complement each other and how they work together to promote the well-being of body and mind. While Ayurveda nurtures the body, yoga refines the mind.
Ayurveda focuses on maintaining the health of the body through diet, lifestyle and natural remedies, while yoga focuses on cultivating inner peace, balance and awareness. Together they form a powerful alchemy that illuminates the path to health, balance and fulfilment.
With this holistic interplay, I feel deeply blessed. It fills my life with joie de vivre, a sense of peace and serenity and makes me progressively more independent of material needs, inwardly free and places spiritual fulfilment more and more in the foreground.
Finding your path
Now, with all my learnings, I am here to share my experiences. It is my wish to pass on this incredible feeling of the unity of body and mind. Feeling grounded and comfortable in one's body is a gift that should not be underestimated.
